A Look At Organic Beer

One of the simple pleasures for many at the end of a hard week at work is relaxing in the garden with an ice cold beer. If you are trying to lead an organic lifestyle then you may have been making an exception for beer as your favourite brew may not be organic. However it’s not that hard these days to find a decent organic brew. Some would argue they are better and contain more taste.

Organic beers are likely to be labelled just “Organic” and not “100% Organic” and that means that 95% of their ingredients are certified organic.

Here are some of the USA breweries with fantastic organic offerings

Wolaver’s (http://www.ottercreekbrewing.com)

Wolaver’s is one of the United states original certified organic breweries. They are based in Vermont, yes that tiny state that you thought was in Canada!, and they produce an absolutely fine range. Their year round range includes a pale ale, india pale ale, brown ale and oatmeal stout. One other great thing about Wolaver’s is their commitment to the local farmers and their environment.

Lakefront Brewery, Inc (http://www.lakefrontbrewery.com)

Lakefront are based in Milwaukee and they are known for producing the USA’s first 100% organic beer. The Organic Extra Special Bitter has one a few cool beer prizes and is obviously made with love by this small brewery.

Peak Organic (http://www.peakbrewing.com)

Peak Organic are based in Portland, ME and they produce an awesome range of organic beer. Even though they are a reasonably small brewery you can a range to rival the bigger breweries including pale ale, India pale ale, nut brown ale, amber ale, pomegranate wheat ale with acai, espresso amber ale and maple oat stout! Definitely worth giving some of those a try!

Anheuser-Busch (http://www.anheuser-busch.com/)

Anheuser-Busch, the makers of the world famous Budweiser (not my favourite beer by a long shot!) have now entered the organic market with their offering called Stone Mill Pale Ale.
